Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has stated that he has gotten over losing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on Thursday, the Rivers State Governor said that phase is over and those who think his grouse with the PDP is because of the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries are sick and have mental problems.

He added that those who think he is the problem don’t understand what is happening and they have been deceived.

Naija News reports Wike made the statement during the commissioning of the Ahoada Campus of the State University of Science.

According to him, some people have accused him of trying to destroy the PDP because he lost the PDP primaries but that is totally untrue.

Instead, the Rivers State Governor said he is advocating for justice and trying to bring peace to the country.

Wike said, “Some of you don’t know what is happening. You are being deceived; they are telling you Wike is causing problem. Wike is not causing problem; Wike is bringing peace to the country. Wike is advocating for justice, Wike is advocating for equity, and Wike is advocating for fairness.

“We have finished with presidential primary. It is over and it is over. So, when people say, ‘You want to destroy the party because you didn’t win the primary’, I think they are sick, they have some mental problem.”

Ayu Must Go

Governor Nyesom Wike has insisted that the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, must step down despite the resignation of Walid Jibril as the Board of Trustees chairman.

Wike reiterated his stance on Ayu’s resignation, recalling the promise allegedly made by the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, when he won the party primary election in May.

According to Wike, Atiku had assured him that Ayu would vacate his position as party chairman.

The governor said Jibrin’s resignation as the Board of Trustees chairman won’t stop his demand for Ayu’s removal.
