According to the CEFR framework, the first step of the Spanish learning journey starts with Level A1. This level is known as the ‘Beginner’ of the ‘Breakthrough’ stage. Spanish for beginners lessons at this level will help you understand and utilise very simple, common Spanish words, phrases, and expressions. This course will focus on basic communication in everyday situations, as well as the satisfaction of concrete needs. At this level, you’ll also be able to carry out simple conversations, such as asking and answering basic questions on topics that cover basic personal information, interests, and family.

By the end of the course, you should be able to understand simple Spanish which is spoken slowly and carefully. You will also be able to learn numbers, give basic instructions, and understand directions. Your writing level will allow you to write basic greeting cards, postcards, and short letters to friends.
