Grace West Specializes in Country-Pop Music
Described to be a “modern country-pop artist with timeless twang,” music is an imperative element in Grace West’s life. She began strumming strings at 12 years old, utilizing the sound of her grandfather’s guitar.
When she auditioned for The Voice, pressure and nerves were not unknown by the singer. This is because Grace had been actively singing in her church choir. Aside from that, in her family’s Detroit-area home, she assumes the role of belting out Motown classics.
“From Motor City to Music City, Grace’s path has been thoroughly defined by music,” her official website bio reads.
Years back, Grace found herself signing a publishing deal and relocating to Nashville to create her own music. Even though Grace grew up inspired by iconic rock artists like Led Zeppelin, she quickly found her love for country music. According to her, she targets to incorporate an old-school vibe to pop-country tones.
“I love bringing the elements of classic country — the foundation of the genre — into a more modern sound,” she said.
Blake Shelton Says She’s “The Real Deal”
When she stepped onto The Voice stage, both veteran coach Blake Shelton and newbie Niall Horan turned for her powerful rendition of Pam Tillis’ “Maybe It Was Memphis.” Following the performance, she chose Shelton to be her coach, making her the last contestant that the veteran coach has ever pressed his button for during the Blind Auditions.
She flawlessly won over Carlos Rising in the Battles, and has effortlessly impressed all coaches back in the Knockouts. The teen musician, at the time, gave a distinct rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again.”
“That’s the real deal, man,” Shelton told Horan.
Amid Shelton’s last season, he chose Grace to advance to the Live Playoffs, now, fans are beginning to pick her as the winner of the overall season. If you want to witness more of Grace’s journey, be sure to tune in on The Voice, airing on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
