Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of a member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo federal constituency, Hon. Chris Azubogu.
It was gathered that Azubogu, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was not in any of the vehicle.
Azubogu is a member of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
The gunmen had attacked the convoy heading to Nnewi after attending a public function, killing a driver of one of the pilot vehicles in the convoy.
Azubogu, according to reports, was set to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, before the attack occurred.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted Obiora Agbasimelo, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 6 Anambra election.
Recall that Agbasimelo had emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in a primary election held in the state some months ago.
The emergence of Agbasimelo led to a crisis in the party, and one of the leading aspirants in the primaries, Nnamdi Nnoruka, was allegedly kidnapped by unknown persons and forced to withdraw from the contest.
