“This is Mom,” Underwood told the crowd as she led Carole onto the stage on Saturday night. She asked her mom if she wanted to say anything to the fans.

Carole responded by telling the crowd, “I’m so happy you’re here, and I hope you enjoy the show.”

Underwood shared that her mom “said she knows the words, and I think she does.” Mother and daughter went on to sing Underwood’s song “All-American Girl,” which appeared on the singer’s 2007 album Carnival Ride.

Carole proved that she really did know the lyrics. Underwood put her arm around her as they performed the grand finale. “Give it up for Mom!” Underwood said as the crowd cheered. They shared a hug before Underwood led Carole off stage, telling her, “Don’t get into too much trouble out there.”

The Singer Paid Tribute to Her Mom on Instagram

Underwood later posted several Instagram photos of her and her mom during the sweet moment. In the caption, she shared how her mom encouraged her to audition for American Idol, telling her, “If you wanna go, I’ll take you.”

“These might have been the most pivotal words anyone has ever spoken to me,” Underwood wrote. “I was busy talking myself out of trying out for American Idol and my mom said these words…the rest is history.”

Music Mayhem points out that Carole previously joined her daughter on stage in 2019 during the singer’s Cry Pretty Tour. They performed Underwood’s song “The Champion” together. Carole even rapped during the performance, filling in for featured artist Ludacris.

“Thanks, Mom, for everything!” Underwood wrote to close her latest post.
